Typical work is residential: incomplete mesh installs, cameras still using factory credentials, thermostats bound to an unknown cloud service, lighting spread across several apps. We segment IoT, select a hub that matches what you already own, and leave an SSID map.
Guest networks and VLANs are used when they solve a real problem. Placement of a single access point is sometimes the entire fix. The same standard applies to a small shop.
Approach
That includes a scheduled home visit and follow-up if a second pass is required.
Inventory of the router, mesh, cameras, hubs, accounts, ISP, and failures. We do not change a live system on the first visit unless there is an active outage.
Written options and costs. Examples include additional access points and a password manager, or HomeKit with a guest SSID for IoT.
Work is scheduled, with a rollback path. Configurations and diagrams match what was installed.
You retain documentation, administrator credentials in a password manager you control, and a contact path if something fails later.
Process
Router, mesh, cameras, hubs, accounts, and symptoms. Work is ranked from that inventory.
Target Wi-Fi, guest and IoT SSIDs, hubs, and what happens if a node fails.
Install or change in an agreed window, then verify that core services still operate.
MFA, backups, camera credentials, and firewall rules based on the review.
Optional monitoring, and a named contact after the install.
