Sterling Technical Solutions designs and supports home Wi-Fi, smart home platforms, and personal cybersecurity. We work with the equipment you already own, document the finished system, and leave you able to operate it. Small shops are welcome on the same terms.

Home network

Coverage throughout the house, guest access for visitors, and a dedicated SSID for IoT so those devices stay isolated from computers and phones.

Smart home

HomeKit, Alexa, Google Home, and Matter. Cameras, locks, thermostats, and lighting on a coherent hub, with local control where the platform allows it.

Security

Multi-factor authentication, password managers, phishing review, and camera hardening. If a quote is overspecified, we will say so and recommend a simpler bill of materials.

Services

Network, smart home, and security for the residence.

If the need is not listed, write anyway. We will say whether we can take it. Small shops are in scope.

Home Wi-Fi

Site survey, mesh placement, backhaul, coverage gaps, guest SSID, and a separate IoT network. Includes systems that were installed and never documented.

Security

Phishing review, multi-factor authentication, backups, and incident planning. Cameras and doorbells should not be reachable from the public internet. IoT is segmented from personal computers and files.

Accounts and devices

Recovery for Apple, Google, and Microsoft accounts, password managers, and removal of stale logins. Setup and repair of computers, phones, and printers.

Smart home

HomeKit, Alexa, Google Home, Matter, and Thread. Cameras, locks, thermostats, lighting, and voice. A single hub where practical, and local control where the devices support it.

Consulting

Review of subscriptions, camera kits, ISP plans, and whole-home proposals. You receive a written recommendation of what to purchase and what to decline.

Implementation

Install, labeling, SSID documentation, and a brief you can keep. Remote access to a home computer can be arranged without exposing Remote Desktop to the internet.

We assess the existing system and document a plan before making changes.

Typical work is residential: incomplete mesh installs, cameras still using factory credentials, thermostats bound to an unknown cloud service, lighting spread across several apps. We segment IoT, select a hub that matches what you already own, and leave an SSID map.

Guest networks and VLANs are used when they solve a real problem. Placement of a single access point is sometimes the entire fix. The same standard applies to a small shop.

Approach

You work directly with the engineer on the job.

That includes a scheduled home visit and follow-up if a second pass is required.

    Assess

    Inventory of the router, mesh, cameras, hubs, accounts, ISP, and failures. We do not change a live system on the first visit unless there is an active outage.

    Plan

    Written options and costs. Examples include additional access points and a password manager, or HomeKit with a guest SSID for IoT.

  3. 03

    Implement

    Work is scheduled, with a rollback path. Configurations and diagrams match what was installed.

  4. 04

    Hand off

    You retain documentation, administrator credentials in a password manager you control, and a contact path if something fails later.

Most engagements follow this sequence. You keep the documentation at the end.

Assess

Router, mesh, cameras, hubs, accounts, and symptoms. Work is ranked from that inventory.

Step 2

Design

Target Wi-Fi, guest and IoT SSIDs, hubs, and what happens if a node fails.

Step 3

Build

Install or change in an agreed window, then verify that core services still operate.

Step 4

Harden

MFA, backups, camera credentials, and firewall rules based on the review.

Step 5

Support

Optional monitoring, and a named contact after the install.
